Please note that there are road works taking place around Bethal, on the road to Ermelo and between Piet Retief and Pongola. Allow for extra traveling time for these stop and go’s.
Should you wish to avoid the Piet Retief/Pongola road works, there is an alternative route through Swaziland on a new tar road which is comparable in distance. This road takes you to the Golela Border post and Shayamoya is then 8km into South Africa.

- Take the N4 towards Witbank, pass through the Middleburg toll gate, take the R35 off- ramp towards Bethal.
- From Bethal, travel to Ermelo, to Piet Retief, to Pongola.
- From Pongola, travel for 27km, turn left off the N2 highway towards Golela/Swaziland border post.
- After travelling 2km up a hill, turn left at the Shayamoya rocky/aloe entrance gate and follow the 1km dirt road to reception.
- It is clearly signposted from the N2 highway.
Pretoria to Pongola Shuttle Service :
- Nasa Travel conducts a daily shuttle service between Pongola and Pretoria.
Departing Pongola on Fridays only @ 07:30
- Arriving Hatfield /Pretoria @ 14:00
- Arriving Midrand @ 15:00
Departing PTA on Mondays only
- From Midrand @ 5:30am
- From Hatfield @ 6:30am
- Arriving Pongola @ 14:00
