When traveling South from Kruger Park, Crocodile Bridge

  • The quickest route is through Swaziland using the Mananga, border post.
  • Continue south towards Big Bend, to Lavumisa border post.
  • From here, travel for only 8 km into KwaZulu Natal, turn right at the Shayamoya entrance up on the hill.

When travelling from Cape Town

  • Fly to either Richards Bay or Durban
  • Hire a car or arrange a transfer

When travelling North from Durban

  • On the N2 highway, 40km past the town of Mkuze, turn right towards Golela/Swaziland border post.
  • Continue for 2km and you will find the Shayamoya rocky/aloe entrance on your left.

When travelling from Pretoria

Please note that there are road works taking place around Bethal, on the road to Ermelo and between Piet Retief and Pongola. Allow for extra traveling time for these stop and go’s. 

Should you wish to avoid the Piet Retief/Pongola road works, there is an alternative route through Swaziland on a new tar road which is comparable in distance. This road takes you to the Golela Border post and Shayamoya is then 8km into South Africa.

When travelling from Johannesburg

Directions: When traveling through Piet Retief, as you are about to leave town, on your left is a Toyota Car Dealership, there is a small green sign saying "Mahamba" turn left here directly after Toyota and continue for about 30km until you reach Mahamba border post. Once in Swaziland. travel about 8km and turn right where it is signposted "Lavumisa". An hour later, you will reach Lavumisa/Golela Border Post.  Travel 8km, you will now be heading up a hill, at the top of the hill on your right is the Shayamoya entrance.
